Multidisciplinary Artist
I’m a conceptual jewellery designer. During my studies at the RCA, my practice includes recreating narratives, playful design and interactive jewellery. I’m currently working on a body piece that depicts and demonstrates the burden and support a relationship requires and the emotional impacts of arguments through body language.
I aim to express my confusion towards relationships and question the audience about their thoughts on the necessity of being accompanied by someone. The project was inspired by the device worn on prisoners' necks to restrict them from moving in ancient China, the object has the connotation of a partnership or collaboration when worn by two. Both paper-made picture frames and marriage certificates imply happily married couples, however, the fragility of the material and relationships, in my opinion, both need a great effort to preserve. The other piece of jewellery explores the emotional impacts of arguments on people, it expresses my thoughts on the nature of arguments. The design leads users to point at each other with their fingers mimicking the posture during arguments.
