Industrial Designer
The direction of my practice aims to respond to industrial design which prefers to safely stay within predefined product types and is reluctant to explore further forms by being uniform and standardised. Through intrinsic exploration of form, I try to diversify products and allow people to perceive a product in an emotionally durable way. Specifically, I design a conceptual model by combining various affordances of the form, and I find humour and new interactions by overlaying or collapsing the user's mental model on other products. One possible implication of this is, like finding and reading someone's hidden note, users can give personal empathy to the product by realizing the designer's intention or developing their own meaning while using the product. Based on this, it is possible to realize sustainable design by extending the life of the product.
